Tentatively titled The Mystic of the Maya this project began five years ago with a 40 page treatment for a feature animated film. Presenting this to Arlene Rimer, Entertainment Lawyer and Film Producer in Toronto, Stacy gained the interest of experienced animator Jericca Cleland, Cinematographer on Finding Nemo, Toy Story II, Space Chimps and the upcoming . Presenting materials to Warren Franklin, (General Manager - Industrial Light and Magic 1981-88) discussions turned away from animated features. The material provides a unique opportunity to create a live action feature in the vain of Apocalypto meets Revenge of the Sith, set in the 9th century Mayan Jungle in the giant city-state of Tikal.

Setting about to write a new treatment for a three-film series complete with a detailed and factual account of the Terminal-collapse period, Stacy began developing characters and narrative to animise the paranormal aspects of Mayan cosmology; particularly alternate dimensions, mystical creatures, the shamanistic anamism of Mayan Kingship and various other complexities needed to fully explore the Mayan Cosmovision.

Another four years of continuous study and field research are what have followed. The highlights of this research included lunar eclipse in Chiapas, armed robbery in Guatemala, the participation of respected Mayanists from around the world amongst eleven of the most important ruins to the classic era. All photographs used in the 2009 calendar were taken during this expedition.

The amount of written material grew well past treatment form into a novel. I have the first draft and this is where we stand. With this foundation Stacy attended the Surrey International Writers Conference from Oct 23-25th. Meeting directly with NY Literary Agents Donald Maass, Rachel Vater, and Acquiring Editors Paul Stevens, and Anica Mrose Rissi, Stacy is now under the ligitimate pressure to produce the second draft by mid April 2009. This is the reason behind the 2009 Calendar. Buying a calendar is not only providing you with a Limited Edition Mayan & Gregorian Calendar, it’s providing the means to drive this project to completion.
